The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new EU regulation which came into force on 25 May 2018. The purpose of the GDPR is to provide a set of standardised data protection laws across all the member countries. This should make it easier for EU citizens to understand how their data is being used, and also raise any complaints, even if they are not in the country where its located.

What is a privacy policy GDPR?

Street Photography as an Art and Documentation of Life

Photographs play an important role in everyone's life – they connect us to our past, they remind us of people, places, feelings, and stories.

Fine-art photography is photography created in accordance with the vision of the artist as a photographer, using photography as a medium to bring something to life that only lives in the artist's mind. Simply capturing what one sees in an artistic way is the art of photography and not creating fine art.

Artistic expression is all about you and allowing yourself the freedom in your photography to satisfy your visual curiosity. Fundamentally, it is a means to fuel your imagination and a way of being artful, according to your mood.

Documentary photography usually refers to a popular form of photography used to chronicle events or environments both significant and relevant to history and historical events as well as everyday life.

Photographers are free to take photographs of people in public places, including for commercial gain. Much of this is covered by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, incorporated into the Human Rights Act 1998, which protects the right to freedom of expression.

Why I Photograph?

I “The Site Operator” Santosh Mehmi @ Obzocky Photography has used photography (digital & analogue) as a tool to document “The Passing by of Life, On the Streets” of London and overseas too. During the many years of study I have photographed many persons & locations, as part of either Art Projects or Photojournalism Documentation. These photographs are taken at either public spaces, public events and on few occasions, private events. I Santosh Mehmi have always remained committed to only take photos for the sole purpose of artistic endeavour and/or documentation also to study and learn. I have where possible asked for permission to obtain a photograph. For example on the streets I may meet someone - ask to a portrait and provide details of either my social media site or website, many of which have become followers of my work, and understand why I do what I do. That is one day to become a professional photographer with people at the heart of what I do.

In street photography there are situation where it is not possible to gain permission, I may still take the photography, again for artistic endeavour solely based on pre-defined projects. With street photography art projects, my goal is to show subjects as part of a larger mass of images that represent my initially idea for the project. I do not wish show a subject in a demeaning, undignified manner or one that may put a persons character into question. I attempt to place a person within photographic art, with a benchmark of high quality.

Should you see photographer here on this website within art projects (Protest Marches) and wish to discuss its removal (privacy reasons), approval or print (with costs) please click and fill the form below.
